The goal is not to acquire more technology. The goal is to create, govern, and steward a Home that remains understandable, resilient, private, and useful to the people who live there.
The Problem
Smart-home capability has grown quickly. Architecture has not always kept pace.
Devices from different vendors rarely share a common language or data model.
Automations are often built without sufficient documentation, making them difficult to maintain or explain.

Tom Grounds is a former CIO, enterprise architect, and technology leader with more than 35 years of experience designing, governing, and operating complex systems.
Homes That Behave Well™ grew from applying those disciplines to a real residential environment and asking a more human question: What would it take for an intelligent Home to earn trust over time?
Tom works directly with clients and develops the HTBW framework, educational series, assessment tools, and residential architecture methodology. The work is vendor-neutral and grounded in household outcomes, architectural fit, Governance, and long-term stewardship.
